5 healthy grocery shopping tips
Shopping for healthy food doesn’t have to be hard. Here are some tips for healthy grocery shopping.
Use these 5 grocery store tips to make your grocery-shopping experience a successful and healthy one!
1. Plan ahead.
Before you head to the store, make a meal plan and a grocery list. Write down your meals for the week and then create a shopping list of the ingredients you’ll need.
2. Don’t go hungry.
Don’t let your hungry stomach trick you into purchasing unneeded food items. Before heading to the supermarket, eat a healthy snack so you won’t be tempted at the store.
3. Shop smart.
Eating healthy doesn’t have to be expensive. Shop smart by checking out weekly deals on healthy foods, signing up for rewards programs and even stocking up on frozen vegetables for when you’re in a pinch.
4. Stay on the perimeter.
Avoid temptation and stick to the outer perimeter of the store where you’ll find the freshest foods. Aim to include lean protein, low-fat dairy, whole grains and a variety of in-season produce. Only travel to the inner aisles for specific items.
5. Order online.
Sometimes the grocery store can feel like a trap with impulse buys based on flashy packaging and “good deals.” Avoid the hassle. Order what you need online and have it delivered to your front door. Not only will you be more likely to stick to your list, but you’ll also save time!
