National observation draws attention to keeping kids safe from preventable injuries.

If you are a parent, you are aware that kids are going to trip, slip or fall. Working in injury prevention, we find that most people are surprised to learn that most preventable injuries –such as drownings, fires and falls – are the leading cause of death to kids in the United States.

Around the world a million children die each year from preventable injuries. We can change this epidemic of preventable injuries for the future generations.

Safe Kids Worldwide is a global organization dedicated to preventing injuries in children, the No. 1 killer of kids in the United States. Around the world, a child dies from an unintentional injury every 30 seconds. And millions of children are injured in ways that can affect them for a lifetime.

Each year, they highlight their passion for safety through Safe Kids Day. This day is a national celebration of our progress in reducing unintentional injuries to children.

For this year’s celebration, Safe Kids Worldwide has a campaign called #myhighfive. My High 5 is a perfect way to celebrate Safe Kids Day and make your home safer at the same time. We all have different safety priorities based on the ages and stages of our children. My High 5 makes it easy for you to pick the safety actions that make the most sense  for you and your family.
