Simple Slow Cooker Barbecue Chicken

Ingredients
  • 2½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 16-ounce can no-salt-added tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon ground chipotle chile powder
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients, except chicken, in the slow cooker and mix thoroughly. Add chicken and spoon sauce over chicken to cover. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or low 6-7 hours.
  2. When chicken is cooked, transfer chicken to a bowl or plate (leaving BBQ sauce in the slow cooker).
  3. Use two forks to shred the chicken. Return the chicken to the slow cooker and let cook for another 5-10 minutes.
