David J. Calkins, Ph.D., is O’Day Professor, vice chair, director for research at Vanderbilt Eye Institute and director of the Vanderbilt Vision Research Center. His research focuses on systems, cellular and molecular approaches to investigating neurodegeneration in glaucoma. He was recently named Chair of the Biology of the Visual System National Institutes of Health Study Section.
